Engraving – FAQs

Engraving Process | Frequently Asked Questions

Engraved YSL lipsticks for wedding. Bridesmaids gifts. Personlised lipsticks by Liz Holdsworth Calligraphy Dublin. Unique Gifts

You’ve got questions….I’ve got answers. If you don’t find your answer here, please email me!

Who supplies the items for engraving?

You do. You purchase the product and send it or have it sent directly to me from the retailer.  That way you get the best price for the item and know it is exactly what you’re looking for.  Clients have used retailers such as Brown Thomas, Boots, Arnotts, Look Fantastic and their local chemist to name a few to find their items.

How does the process work?

If you have any questions about pricing, feel free to email for a quote before we start the process.

1. You will complete the Engraving Request Form on my website. (saves back and forth emailing)
2. You will send me your item(s) or get them posted directly from the online retailer to save a bit on postage.  I’ll provide the postal address when everything is confirmed.
3. I will then send you a digital mock-up of the engraving so you can get a general idea what it will look like and make any changes.
4. I will send you the invoice for the engraving and return postage.
5. I will engrave the items, (take some sneaky pics), and post them back to you.

How long is the turnaround or lead-time for engraving?

Ideally, I would like about a month (two months is even better) to ensure it can be done on time.  It all depends on how much work I already have in the queue.  If you have multiple items it ensures they can all be completed.  The earlier the better as I would hate for you to wait until the last minute and I can’t accept the order as there are too many in the queue.

What if I need the items in a week or two? Do you do rush orders?

Yes, well…I will try my best to accommodate orders.  I usually have the ability to turn rush orders around in a day or two but since that means moving projects around, there is a Rush Fee of 5%-20% involved depending on the scope of the order.

Colour Fill? What is that?

Once the items are engraved, some bottles can then be filled with Gold or Silver.  If the bottle is frosted, it cannot be filled with a colour and must be left frosted.  If you are unsure what colour you would like your engraving filled with, that’s not a problem.  I’m happy to recommend a colour that matches the item or I can give you examples in the mock-up.

What can be engraved?

Glass, metal, some plastics, leather, some wood…just ask!

Can textured items be engraved?

No, not really. I usually have to decline those items.

The item is frosted and not clear.  Can it be engraved?

Yes, but it cannot be filled with a colour and will remain frosted or etched.
